A Christmas Collage

Hello, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful holiday full of the four F‘s (family, friends, food, and fun)! Before I bombard you with a collection of pictures likely of interest to approximately 0.0000001% of the Internet-using population, I want to thank you for your kind and encouraging feedback on last Friday‘s post. I appreciate every single comment and email – it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who has struggled with fitting into a new area, even at the ripe ol’ age of 28. I appreciate this online community more and more with each post.

On to Christmas! We’ve been mighty busy this past week. For example, we’ve played board games over Maddie’s watchful eye (this gem is called Small World and I’m totally kicking bottom):

And feasting our eyes AND stomachs.

Christmas Eve dinner at Peter’s grandparents’ house:

Hi Archie!

And Christmas Day dinner at Peter’s parents’ house (my seat is in the upper right next to the roasted sweet taters. Mmm, tasty.):

Holiday menus at Casa Peter’s family are pretty similar from year to year. No need to mess with tradition, so I just enjoy the tastes of Peter’s childhood.

Peter’s dad carving the turkey (no smoked turkey this time!):

Mashed potatoes:

Roasted Brussels sprouts:

My plate (mashed potatoes, turkey, sweet potato, random raw broccoli and carrot sticks, roasted Brussels sprouts):

Peter’s dad made his famous apple pie, as well as a pecan pie:

Peter and I split a few slices.

And that’s it! More quality time with family + less ogling at pictures = YES. Besides, I need to finish wiping the floor with Peter and his brother in Small World.

Stay tuned for a fun recipe on Monday!

Q: How was your holiday? Any memorable foods/dishes?

  1. Hello from Greece! 🙂

I haven’t been commenting for a while but I’m still reading! I’m so glad to hear you have managed to feel comfortable in your new neighbourhood at last and that you have such nice people living near you! But don’t worry, you’re probably one of these people who dislike change and transitional periods even when they know the change is for the better. I am like that and the first night I moved house (and it was just 2 postcodes away in the same city) I cried myself to sleep, even though the new place was infinately better. So there, it’s normal and now it’s over 🙂

I love the traditional Christmas food, why mess with perfection? And Archie is a cutie (though not cuter than Maddie!)

    1. Hi Christa! I do have trouble with change initially, but I’m working on it 🙂 Thanks for the sweet words – I hope you’re having a nice holiday at home!
