Leave it to Maddies

As I was going to bed last night, I saw this underneath one of the tables:

Do you think he had any last words before his demise?

The culprit? This little blighter, of course (you’ll have to tilt your head – sorry!):

Ferocious!  Shiver me timbers, arrrrr.

The end of a peanut butter jar is always a celebration because that means I can have OIAJ for breakfast!

Oatmeal parfait with peanut butter, oatmeal, frozen blueberries, unsweetened coconut, and tart cherry jam:

Peter and I spent most of the morning cleaning. The before and after pictures are most telling:

Sweat, choice words, and a crazy, vacuum-hating puppy attack later, a clean room:

We cleaned all the rooms in the apartment. I never realized how many crevices there are in a 1200 square foot apartment. How does dirt collect in a closet we don’t even USE??

I broke for poached egg on spinach:

Eggs are such a wonderfully rich source of cheap protein, and topping a salad with a poached egg means you need just a little dressing. Of course, the future dietitian in me MUST say: eating undercooked eggs poses a risk of Salmonella, so just be aware!

Chobani, Barbara’s squares, and passionfruit syrup from Hawai’i (yes, I STILL have it from our honeymoon):

So, why are we doing all this cleaning? Because it’s Spring Break and we’re going here:

Yeah, that's so totally me.

That’s right! We’re flying out to Utah tomorrow to ski in the beautiful mountains. I’m so excited! I’ve been out there once before and had a blast. I can’t wait to share my pictures with you guys!

We’re getting into Utah late tomorrow, so no post tomorrow night. I’m anticipating Internet out there, so I should be able to post as usual starting Sunday (crossing my fingers!).

I’ll miss this little one:

Maddies helping me fold clothes.

But, I know she’ll have fun playing with her buddies while we’re gone:

Bonnie
Gussie

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone – I’ll see you all on Sunday!

Q: Have you ever been skiing? How did you like it?

  1. Have an amazing time! No I have not been skiing, my husband loves it, but I am afraid. Next yr, when I am not training for a marathon!
By the way, I loooooove poached or lightly fried eggs on top of salad with reduced balsamic. Decadence!

    1. Reduced balsamic – yum!

  2. HOOOORAYY FOR OIAJ!! that makes me soo happy! yay!

  3. This morning I soooooo wanted OIAJ that I contemplated scooping PB out of the jar and putting it in another container just so I could eat OIAJ, haha! 😉 I settled for just putting a blob on top, but it’s just not as good… sighhhh… 😉

I am not a skier. (Skiier?) I’ve been a couple times and the bunny slope was as far as I made it. I prefer the ski lodge sipping on hot cocoa. So exciting, right? haha! Anyway, hope yall have lots of fun!! 🙂

    1. Haha! There really is something magical about scraping the inside of a PB jar. Is it because I’m being economical? Nah, probably not 🙂

  4. Jessie, going to Utah! Cool! I heard it’s FREEZING there, so bundle up!
I actually HATE skiing. I’ve been there once and it just resulted in me being wet, freezing, and cranky. I’m also not good with speed: I tend to get all pukey when flying downhill with the blustery wind and snow in my face.

Okay, don’t let me be a pooper…you go enjoy yourself, girl!

  5. I went skiing a couple times in my teens but never really liked it. I don’t think I am that coordinated 😀

I love salad topped with eggs. Maybe I will have that for lunch today!

  6. I have a pretty strong aversion to cold and falling on my bum, but I went skiing in Colorado when I visited a good friend in 2006. Yep, it’s been a while! Fortunately, a) there was a good ski school b) her brother, who had tried out for the X Games, was helpful c) I didn’t die.

I’m just a klutz with those slopes!

    1. c) is pretty important 🙂

  7. I’ve been skiing a few times and think its great! Its good exercise, its fun, and you’re usually somewhere beautiful 🙂 Hope you have an amazing time!
