Monday Munchies, Part 33: The Little Miracle Dog

This post is a continuation of the Monday Munchies series where I show everything I eat over the course of single day (in this case, last Friday = Valentine’s Day. Not sure why I can’t seem to pick a regular day for these).

Fuzzy, teetering pictures, here we go.

Breakfast, 7:30 am:

Bircher muesli with raspberry Greek yogurt and a tiny banana. Served with hot Yorkshire Gold tea and milk.

Not much to say here. Awesome breakfast. Feelings of fulfillment. Jessie like.

Lunch, 12 pm:

Salad with lettuce, tomatoes, green beans, and leftover chicken. Served with Golden Harbor dumplings and … what’s this? A missing meal component??

Apparently I took the above picture before pouring myself a glass of milk, but rest assured I drank my calcium.

Readers have inquired about our little sick pup. As I wrote last November, Bonnie was given only a few weeks; her disease is almost always terminal within a month. This fact makes the following sentence all the more remarkable: Last Friday, we dropped her off at the veterinary hospital for her last chemo appointment. When we drove back in the afternoon, the vet had great news for us: Bonnie is better than she was in November. The hospital is completely baffled.

It’s no wonder the vets at the hospital have dubbed her the “little miracle dog.”

Of course, she’s not out of the woods. Even though she’s had more energy over the last month than she’s had in years, her disease has no cure, and at 15 years old, she’s lived a long, happy life. We are grateful for the extra time we’ve enjoyed with her.

In the above picture, Bonnie is sporting what I call her “Bernie look”, which references the title character from the excellent movie, “Weekend at Bernie’s“.

Now that‘s classy.

I tried to take a picture of Maddie and, well … this was the result.

The Blur is her superhero name.
Her superhero name is “The Blur.”

Dinner, 7 pm:

Valentine’s Day dinner was Cornish hens, cauliflower soup, butternut squash (grown by Courtney), and elderberry wine. The above picture reaffirms my belief that Monday Munchy posts have the crappiest pictures ever. Especially in the winter.

For dessert: chocolate lava cakes with homemade vanilla ice cream.

Ooze.

Enjoy your week, dear reader!
