Monday Munchies, Part 7

A continuation of the series where I document everything I ate over the course of one day (last Friday). The deets:

Breakfast, 8:30 am:

Smoothie with yogurt, frozen berries, 1/2 banana, raw oats, chia seeds, spinach, and water. Green tea in in a NEVER BEFORE SEEN mug. Creepy hulking puppa in the background. Unpictured: Brazil nut. I’m on a round of antibiotics at the moment, so the yogurt is great for balancing out digestion.

Lunch, 12:30 pm:

Leftover ricotta-stuffed chicken with broccoli and carrots (there’s the cruciferous veggie AND the orange veggie. Go me for having both in a single meal!). Slice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter. Glass of milk on the side, served in a tiny glass because I haven’t done the dishes in a … bit.

See how nicely I arranged the plate of veggies?  I did that just for YOU, dear reader.  Otherwise, everything would be mixed together in a jumble of green and orange, which would certainly not be a feast for the eyes.

Dinner, 7 pm:

Oatmeal with 1/4 cup oats and 1/2 cup milk, made in the microwave, the watery result of which made me declare never to make oatmeal in the microwave again. Topped with chia seeds and cherry jam. Hard-boiled egg on the side.

In a previous post, I mentioned that tend to lose my appetite during colds. I didn’t feel much like eating on this day, which could also be related to the antibiotics. Never fear! My appetite has since returned in full force, and I’m looking forward to meals today (including a special dessert coming up later this week!).

Finished with an orange, and early to bed.

Q: How do you eat when you’re not feeling your best?

  1. I love how you present your plates so beautifully! It enhances the eating experience, right? 🙂

When I’m feeling under the weather, I definitely go for warm, comforting foods like soup, rice porridge (or any kind of porridge), mashed potatoes. In other words, baby food haha 😉 I also drink a ton of tea…which, come to think of it, I do anyway so never mind 😉

  2. Your Plate does look so beautiful! The things we do for blogging! 🙂
When I am sick, I normally don’t have too much of an appetite. So you know I’m feeling better when I start eating and snacking! Glad you are about done with your antibiotics.
