Skiing with Six Lies and a Truth!

|

Hello, everyone! Gorgeous day here in Utah. We’ve got some fun pictures to see, so let’s get crackin’!

Last night’s dinner was at Wahso, an Asian grill in Park City.

Cute town.

Their menu is small but varied (and fancy!). We started with steamed pork buns with pickled cucumber:

I’m not sure why restaurants call these steamed pork buns when they’re super-heavy? This appetizer breaks the rule of ordering “steamed” items on menus to keep your meals light.

For dinner, I ordered seared tuna:

Excellent plating and garnishing, as my Food Service professor would say.

Peter ordered the beef, but I’ll spare you my amateur picture (which makes the beef look like something else I can think of that’s brown and lumpy … ) . Wahso was pretty good – the portions were a perfect size, but the prices were too much for what you get. It was a fun splurge, but I wouldn’t go back there.

This morning, my regular oatmeal was accompanied by a new peanut butter:

I usually avoid Skippy because even the “natural” variety has artery-clogging palm oil, which is mostly saturated fat. However, Skippy is nice to get during a vacation because Peter and I can share it.

Now, onto the skiing! Today was GORGEOUS! The sun was shining and warm, the mountain was uncrowded, and the snow was perfect.

Please forgive the fuzzy iPhone pictures from this point on. I’m going to bring my lumpy, bumpy camera from now on just for you guys because I care about you all so much! Besides, Peter wants his phone back.

Pics from the lift:

I think Peter was getting really nervous that I would drop his phone.

Peter showing off his bug-eye goggles. Not sure why the iPhone gives a fish-eye view?

This run is my absolute favorite:

Not a very good picture of the slope. I’ll try to get a better one tomorrow.

Every day for lunch I get their mini-version of a Whole Foods salad.

I can try a little bit of my favorite toppings while consuming a huge pile of greens. And, a salad doesn’t weight me down while skiing in the afternoon. I don’t know how I’d be able to ski after a burger and fries!

Now, onto something even more fun! I was so happy to get this great blogger award from Katie at Health for the Whole Self. Thanks, hun!

Prepare yourselves! I am about to tell you SEVEN statements about myself, but only ONE is true. So, that means six statements are total LIES. Your role? Guess the TRUTH. This occasion is the only time I’ll ever lie to you, so remember this moment 😉

Here we go!

1. I’m a freestyle skiier – I love terrain parks and sometimes do 180s and was able to do a 360 once.
2. I’ve been to Hawai’i once, on our honeymoon.
3. The widespread obsession with Lord of the Rings drives me nuts – who cares about short people and some ring?
4. I have really small feet, which has saved me a bundle because I can buy kids’ sizes.
5. I only have 75% of the number of teeth a person normally has.
6. When I was a kid, I announced I was going to run away from home (haven’t we all?) and actually camped out in the nearby woods for three hours.
7. I have a strong aversion to clementines, but not oranges. I don’t know why … maybe because their small size creeps me out?

Now, to nominate seven other bloggers who I think would like to participate (I wish I could have included all of you wonderful bloggies)!

1. Samantha @ Bikini Birthday
2. Darryn @ brio.gusto
3. Kristen @ The Swanky Dietitian
4. Em @ HomecookedEm
5. Savannah @ Light Delight with TouTou
6. Kristen @ Simply Savor
7. Meghan @ Travel Eat Love

Once nominated, here is what you have to do:

1. Thank the person who gave this to you. 😉
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated you.
4. Tell up to six outrageous lies about yourself, and one outrageous truth.
5. Nominate up to seven “Creative Writers” who might have fun coming up with outrageous lies.
6. Post links to the seven blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know you nominated them.

So, what do you think is the ONE true statement? Good luck, everyone, can’t wait to hear your guesses! 🙂

P.S. I’ve decided to post every other day or so this week so that I can gather up some good pictures for you guys … and also because it’s vacation! Hope you all don’t mind. 🙂

  1. What a FUN day!! 🙂

I would have to guess your truth is that you ran away and camped out in the woods for 3 hours. I used to have those thoughts when my mom would send me to my room, haha! 😉 Thanks for nominating me, btw!! 🙂

  2. How many teeth do people “normally” have? Are we talking the 32 or are we saying 28 because most people have their wisdom teeth out? If we are saying the former, I could believe that you have only 24 teeth. Perhaps some premolars extracted for orthodontic purposes… Maybe it is the freestyle skiing though. I like the idea of you tearing up the slopes with all sorts of crazy tricks!

  3. ahh thanks for the nomination! going to have to come up with some super creative lies 🙂 looks like you’re having an amazing time in Utah! and your right, that garnish and plating is spectacular 😉

  4. Thanks so much for the nomination!!! I am so excited!

I wish I was skiing right now, looks like so much fun!!

Hmmm…I’m gonna say that #1 is true.

  5. It better not be number 3 Jessie. Don’t be hasty.
Teeth. Teeeethhhh. But we has only six…

    1. What has it gots in its pocketsesssssssssss …

  6. Eeehehe, I love this stuff, how fun!

Okay, my guess for your TRUTH is that you went to Hawaii on your honeymoon! I’m pretty sure you mentioned before that you went there (when you posted the music)…but now I’m second guessing…maybe you’ve been more than once!?

My other guess for the truth would be the clementine bit. Not too far out, but just weird enough to be real. haha.

Re: steamed pork buns – no kidding! Maybe the “steaming” part refers to the pork and not the bun…haha.

  7. Yay! You made my day! Thanks so much 🙂

I’m guessing that you camped out in the woods. As a kid, that would be awesome (at least for the first 20 minutes until you hear a noise and get scared of monsters)… okay, maybe that’s not true. 3 hours seems like a stretch.

    Maybe it’s the Hawaii thing.

  8. I think the teeth one is NOT true! But really…this is hard! I think you did go to Hawaii on your honeymoon, but I’m not sure that was the only time. That one could be the lie too…
Actually, I’m embarrassed to admit this but I had NO IDEA you were married! I feel bad, I just figured you two were dating. Ooops.

It looks like oyu had a really nice weekend. I have not been skiing in SO long. I think if I got on skies right now, I would make a fool out of myself.
As for the steamed buns, good call. I always tell clients to look for the word “steamed” but it sounds like these buns are an exception!
    Have a great day!

  9. I think #2 is true…

Beautiful pictures! I wish I were skiing somewhere instead of at work! And I totally agree on the Skippy…my hubby eats it but I won’t touch it. 🙂

  10. Oh gosh, those are really good lies!! I definitely have no idea which one is true. I’m going to go with…..running away/camping out in the wooods. Just because I did that as a kid too 😛

I actually love the Skippy Natural PB :X I don’t eat it all the time, but it’s delicious when I’m in the mood for “real” (aka not as good for you) peanut butter!

  11. what a beautiful day! These are so hard!! hmmm I’d say hawaii??? I don’t know 🙂

  12. I think the truth is #4!!! Because I have really small feet, too. Maybe it’s an Asian thing. 🙂

  13. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am a bit behind in all things blog related, but I am so excited to have received this award! I will pass it on this weekend for sure.
Your vacation photos are fantastic! It looks like a restful and fun time. Blog when you feel like it, and if you don’t we will all be here waiting to read when you get back!
