Remember Anne‘s Lake of Shining Waters in Avonlea? Well …

Back when I interned as a web video producer for a public television station, we called the hour around sunrise and sunset “the golden hour”. Why golden? Because everything is cast is a golden glow, and everything looks good. 🙂

Today was such a gorgeous day in CT. I tried to absorb as much of it as I could before this happens:

Extend that weather prediction a few days more, and you have the weather for the next week. But, let’s back up, shall we?

This morning, I ate my yogurt, Barbara’s squares, PB, and banana while reading blogs, Gliding Calm-style.

After my commute, I slid into Medical Nutrition Therapy at the last minute. Of course, I stopped on my hurried walk to class to take a few pictures:

Oh UConn, how the sun shines on thee.

Lunch was a turkey sandwich with Durkee’s and lettuce on whole wheat.

There’s nothing like having your sandwich on two loaf ends to make you feel like you’re really splurging. 😛

Several classes and sunset-enjoying later, Peter and I sat down with his meatloaf creation.

Yes, I have a carnivore for a husband, but we balance our meals with greens and other vegetables.

A salad with Annie’s Goddess and sage cheddar:

Heck, let’s look at the Lake of Shining Waters again.

We’ve got to get our sunshine in while we can, right?

How about you? What are some of your favorite places to take pictures? While traveling? With family and friends? Let me know 🙂

    1. Give me cheddar any day 🙂

  10. Hi Jessie, thanks so much for visiting me at Suite Apple Pie. I see a kindred spirit in you, from your morning oats and yogurt, and our carnivorous husbands! I try to sneak Ray some whole grains but he is totally devoted to all things white flour and he always knows when I try to substitute a bit of wheat. *sigh*

I adored Anne of Green Gables as a little girl, my mom read them aloud to me before I could read them myself, then read the series again when I was older. I did love the Megan Follows movie version. Did you ever watch the show Avonlea? It was on the Disney channel at night when I was a kid, it didn’t have Anne but Murilla showed up from time to time. The stories took place sometime when Anne was an adult and no longer living in Avonlea.

    1. Haha, sure seems like it! I never saw the show Avonlea, although I’ve heard of it. I always secretly wanted a crotchety-but-sweet Aunt Marilla. 🙂

  11. Gorgeous pictures! I’m always drawn to nature photography 🙂 And I must confess I read most of the Anne books and watched the movies back in the day. Hope you get some more sunshine 🙂

  12. If I had such beautiful scenery to take pictures of, I would take them everywhere. However, I rarely bring my camera outdoors. I really should, even to take pictures of the “not so pretty” things, it’s fun! It captures the moment and life, basically. Your photos look so great, and I could tell it was the perfect day and time of day in CT.
Your eats look yummy, especially the meatloaf. I love meatloaf! I haven’t had it in quite some time though.

  13. Holy Cannoli!! Anne of Green Gables – SHUT UP!! I absolutely adore this series from PBS. I used to go to my local library growing up and rent these ALL the time. The actresses and actors are phenomenal. I think I need to sponsor PBS and just get them this year. Thanks for the throwback moment 🙂

  14. I just googled “Lake of Shining Waters” for a quiz question about Anne of Green Gables…and found a link to your blog! What a coincidence! 😀
