The Lonely Mountain

Well, not so lonely – Utah has a lot of mountains!

But, let’s back up a little. Saturday morning began with a hearty bowl of oatmeal with a little of my favorite topping:

After some last-minute packing and dropping off the dogs (tear … 🙁 ), we headed to the airport.

Goody-two shoes Peter catching up on some schoolwork:

Check out the plane we took for the first half of our flight:

The plane had a row of one seats along one side of the plane and a row of two seats on the other side. This plane was tiny! Peter is tall, but he’s never rubbed the top of his head against the ceiling of an airplane – until now.

I guess the static electricity of friction between hair and ceiling caused a build up of same sign charge in his hair strands so that they repelled each other:

Physics in action.

I was dozing off during the flight until all of sudden I heard a flight attendant say “cookie”? I pulled myself out of my fog and saw that they were handing out Biscoff. Of course, I thought of Kath as I was chowing down.

These things are addicting. Good thing I was sharing with Peter (a technique for making sure I don’t overindulge!).

A few views from the plane:

Does this next picture make anyone else think of the Dead Marshes?

We did go skiing today, but no pictures because the snow was a flyin’. I hope tomorrow will be clearer for pictures. Until then …

Peace out.

Hangin' with my (second) favorite ski dude.

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone! See you tomorrow!

Q: Do you like to travel by plane? What do you do to pass the time? I always bring work, but end up reading instead. 🙂

  1. Hope you had a great time skiing!

I probably actually prefer road trips (so much fun when you’re with the right person!) but obviously sometimes the distance is just too far…in which case, I love travelling by plane! I also bring work (good intentions) but usually end up listening to music and daydreaming as the clouds fly by… 🙂

    1. I forgot about music! I listen to a lot of music, too 🙂

  2. I love flying. And I read the whole time. Magazines, books, the newspaper. Inevitably I fall asleep though!
Have a great night! Utah looks beeauuuutiiiffuuulll!!

  3. My grandfather is a retired Delta employee so our family gets lots of buddy passes and it’s the only airline we fly! Love their biscoff and since my grandma is constantly flying for free, she always has a stash of them at her house!! I love flying!! As a teacher I should say I like reading, but I actually prefer in flight movies to pass the time away. Enjoy the rest of your trip!! 🙂

    1. Lucky you to get all the buddy passes! 🙂 Don’t worry, I won’t tell your classes you like to watch movies instead of reading 😉

  4. Planes put me to sleep like a rock. As soon as I’m at any elevation, I just pass out and don’t wake up until I’m back on the ground. It’s strange because I can’t sleep regularly!

The mountains are so beautiful, and I’m glad you made it safely! Have a blast, you look so cute in the ski gear!! 😀

    1. Good for you! I can’t sleep a wink on planes, but at least I get to read!

    1. Aww, have you tried Dramamine?

  5. WOW girl that oatmeal looks AWESOME! its always soo good w. chocolate AND PB! yumm! those cookies look great!

  6. I usually just read or sleep on flights!

I’m so excited to hear about your time living off the SNAP allowance! I hope you post about it!

  7. I love the pictures! Your Goody Two Shoes is so useful with his time! I read, do Sudoku, or sleep…and probably drool/snore. : )

  8. I can’t sleep in planes either, and until very recently I used to get very nervous during takeoff… But after travelling the Athens-London route (which is probably less than the trip from Connecticut to Utah, though we cross something like 5 countries along the way) 6 or 7 times already I have started feeling relaxed enough to enjoy my journey from the very first moment! What do I do? Watch the in-flight movie or read a book or magazine, for some reason I nearly always buy vogue when I’m flying, though I never buy it normally!

That picture does look like the Dead Marshes but hopefully no Mordor was on the other side! 😉
