The Skiing Simulator

|

You can ski, too! How, you ask? With a little magic and the use of Youtube 🙂

First, let’s look at some fun ski and feed pictures, shall we?

Two breakfasts:

Greek yogurt with banana, PB, and a wonderful muffin made by Peter’s mom.

Oatmeal with a spoonful of blueberry jam, PB, and a butterscotch scone corner on top:

I cut down on the amount of PB for this bowl so that I wouldn’t be stuffed for skiing. Rolling down the slopes might interfere with my skiing groove. Speaking of …

Getting ready.

Peter hates this slope (Nabob) because it’s good for about 10 minutes first thing in the morning, before it gets all scraped off and icy.

Closeup of The Chutes.

Check out these crazy costumes:

Wonder what this guy's favorite liquor is?
I'll bet these guys have a lot of wind resistance.

Check out the goggle reflection!

I love my skis. You can’t see it in this picture, but the gold parts sparkle in the sun:

For those of you who don’t ski (or don’t ski often), here’s a taste of actual skiing (don’t worry, there was no one around me and I was skiing really slowly):

And from the front, skiing down Orion:

Skiing is a great cardiovascular workout. I can feel my heart pounding and my legs shaking at the end of long runs, but I don’t mind because skiing is so much fun! “Workout” doesn’t have to be a four-(plus three)-letter-word if you’re playing a sport or doing something you really enjoy, like walking on a beautiful bike path or throwing a Frisbee around (go Ultimate!).

Let’s see some food! I branched out from the huge salad at lunch to try this little gem:

Grilled salmon with cucumber ribbons on ciabatta with a side salad and carrot curls.

I didn’t want all that bread weighing me down, so I enjoyed the salmon on the top half of the crusty roll and left the bottom half (which was soggy anyway). I definitely felt better throughout the afternoon of skiing without the extra roll half weighing me down.

Dinner was at Mustang, where I ordered the grilled chicken with capers, asparagus, and gnocchi:

Dinner was … pretty good. While my dish was nicely spiced and the asparagus was succulent, Peter’s dish (Utah trout) was bland and mushy. I guess one out of two ain’t bad.

Today was our last day of skiing 🙁 . We’re arriving at home late tomorrow night. I can’t wait to see these little doggles:

Bon Bon
Maddles

See you guys on Sunday!

Q: What’s your favorite form of exercise? Do you play any sports?

  1. I wish I could ski but I’ve tried and I’m the worst! I couldn’t even handle the bunny slopes…lol! I’ve thought about trying it again but haven’t gotten around to it.

    Looks like fun!

  2. ps…those costumes are funny! I know so many people who would love the Crown Royal cape:)

  3. Love all the photos! I like walking, hiking, and I do like running when I get out of my own negative thoughts about it!
I am sure you are looking forward to seeing the puppers!

    1. Haha, you’re almost there – just a leeetle longer ’til the marathon 🙂

  4. Wow, you look like a pro 🙂 My favourite sport is definitely tennis and it’s also a great workout that doesn’t feel at all like a workout – it’s so much fun! Time flies by when I play. Unfortunately, it’s raining so much where I am right now it’s impossible to play. Sometimes I do Kathy Smith DVD workouts in the comfort of home 🙂

    1. That’s the best kind of workout!

  5. WOW! I’m so impressed!! Thanks for letting me ski through your eyes, haha! I really wish I liked/was good at skiing!! It must really be an awesome workout!!

I don’t play any sports. I guess the closest I get to “fun” and working out without realizing it is when I run with my friend. We get to talking and laughing and before we know it the miles are flying by!

  6. HAhahaa!!! I loved the sumo wrestler skiiers…I’ll bet they did that for padding! Maybe they’re horrible skiiers. hehhehee.

I hate sports. Sorry, I’m just a loner when it comes to exercise! I just run, and that’s it. Anything with a ball is out.

    1. I know I’d be embarrassed if I was dressed crazy AND I was a horrible skier 😛

  7. Thanks for stopping by my blog 🙂

I enjoyed your ski pics a lot, especially the one with the sumo wrestlers in the elevator was priceless 😀

I’ve been seeing a lot of salmon based foods in the blogworld this week and yours looked great too 🙂

  8. You make skiing look like the best time! I wish I were good at it. I get scared and therefore fall often. I think I’m more of a cross-country skier. Anyway, your lunch salmon sandwich looks awesome!
My favorite exercise is walking. I walk everywhere and pretty fast. I love it!
    Have a great Saturday!

  9. I’ve never gone downhill skiing (just cross country) but you totally make me want to try it sometime! 😀 I love the videos…it looks like a blast!

My favorite exercise is running, but I also love kayaking, hiking, and tennis. 😀

    1. I like cross-country skiing, too!

  10. I am so uncoordinated that skiing is near impossible for me. I’ve been 3-4 times and each time I get worse, isn’t that weird? My favorite exercise is running but I haven’t been able to do that so much anymore thanks to an injured knee. Anyway, this was a super positive comment, right??

Love the guys in what I hope are costumes…talk about wind resistance!

    1. Haha, it’s ok, love your comments anyway!

  11. Looks like you guys are having a great time!

I think I am the only Canadian who is not a die-hard skiier/snowboarder. It just ain’t me. But I love living vicariously through ski simulators 😉

  12. yum food and fun post thanks so much for visiting my blog Rebecca

  13. I love thw simulator!!! I’ve never been skiing and it sounds like so much fun. 🙂 I’m glad you’re having a great time- the costumes are so funny! You look so professional in the second video- awesoeme!!!
