Monday Munchies, Part 10
Yesterday afternoon, Peter and I visited Allerton Park, a retreat packed with gardens and hiking trails. It’s a bit past fall foliage season, but the views were gorgeous nonetheless.
I meant the scenery.
We have a garden dump cart that Bonnie rides in when she gets tired. Let me tell you, nothing gets you more “ooh”s and “ahh”s than a cute dog riding in a cart.
Maddie has a tendency to stray into places she shouldn’t be straying (like in front of cars, bicyclists, and sharp objects), so I keep her on leash at all times.
It was cold.
We had a lovely walk around the park. I felt that post-walk relaxation on the drive back home — until I spotted the first tick on Maddie’s face. All in all, we pulled off about ten ticks from the two dogs. The leaves may be over, but the ticks are still out :/
On to Monday Munchies! Below is everything I ate over the course of last Friday.
Breakfast, 8 am:
A container of Chobani 2% Pomegranate yogurt (such a sweet tart), 1/2 banana, frozen blueberries, goji berries, Kashi cereal. chia seeds. I know it looks like I’m hiding a fried egg under there, but I’m not – it’s the yogurt. Pumpkin spice latte on the side.
Lunch, 12:30 pm:
Curry tofu salad, toasted while grain bread, the last of the mini bell peppers. Served with a glass of skim milk.
A Pumpkin Cloud Cookie. We’re almost out!
As I mentioned yesterday, we ended up having a fantastic spread of vegan chili + toppings at the house of one of Peter’s colleagues. I’m definitely getting the recipe for this!
My bowl, with plenty of cheese and sour cream. I also had a glass of white wine.
Another of Peter’s colleagues brought these fabulous vegan chocolate spice cookies. I enjoyed Cookie #2 of the day with a hot mug of decaf latte.
Q: Where’s your favorite place to relax (hopefully tick-free)?
The beach! It was 27 degrees yesterday (Celsius, of course 🙂 ) Summer keeps making a comeback.
Haha, all of your posts lately have been making me laugh :-p
Oh, and your doggies are always so adorable (not only when riding in carts)!
Have a delicious day, Jessie!
Thanks, Lucy! I’m a little jealous of your weather … ok, a lot jealous! 😉
Both the cloud cookies and the vegan chocolate spice cookies look fantastic! They’d be perfect to bring to a holiday cookie swap. Or eat all by yourself 🙂
Mmmmm, nothing like vegan chili with cheese and sour cream! haha. I would do that too.
My favorite place to relax is our back yard, but a fire in the fire pit, reading a good book. You can’t beat it!
lol! I forgot I put sausage in there, too. That “vegan” chili tasted darn good! 😉
That scenic walk sounds glorious!! Well, minus the ticks. That part actually sounds awful!!
You’re going to have to make those pumpkin cloud cookies when you are here. And the tofu.
